'Fangboner Road'. ...Ahhh, some of the names I see out here. That one actually made me chuckle out loud.
Seeing the Fangboner sign today, and with Halloween just around the corner, I thought I'd turn our thoughts to cemeteries. Yes, cemeteries...I love them! The old ones that is. (Again, I'm a little strange). There are a number of old cemeteries around the Antlers area that I look forward to exploring one day. For now, I will share some of the pics I snapped the other day at the main cemetery right in Antlers.
Nice big trees...
I like this one, but first the story...A few years ago, when Amber came with us to visit Antlers, it was her mission to find what she called a "hick" tombstone in this cemetery. When she came across Mr. Borden's, she wasn't disappointed. Mr. Borden passed away in 1919..."When I Was Called By Death To Go, My Savior Tuck Me Home". "Tuck"...lol!
"She was the sunshine of our home"....awwww.
Quite a number of babies, which all have baby lambs resting on them...
Some are marked with simply initials...
Others are barely legible...
Huh? Key to eternal life maybe???...
Mysterious...
Old, and quite frankly, ugly...but later updated. Good thing, because we wouldn't know who was buried there otherwise...illegible...
And many are just plain interesting...
(This is Mr. Borden's by the way)...
And last, but not least...I'm guessing this guy must have been one miserable old fart...as evidenced by the obvious sourness of the soil beneath him, whadda ya think? ;)
