God. He sure must have had fun putting everything on this earth. :)
Today while driving through California on our way to San Diego, we came upon mountains of rock. What's so strange about that you ask? Well, they were more like piles of rocks. Like a giant size dump truck had come along and poured all different sizes of rocks into mountainous piles...in the middle of a desert like setting. It was absolutely amazing to see!! My iPhone pictures just don't capture the experience.
Driving through that stretch, we climbed to almost 4200 feet. In fact, we went from sea level to 3000 feet in only 10 minutes, and the temperature dropped by 20 degrees F. We were in the clouds. Radiator water stops were all over the place.(lol)
On the way back, we passed some sand dunes that we had missed earlier in the day because it was still dark.
Guess where we're headed now? Back to El Paso! Can't seem to get away from the Mexican border. Speaking of the Mexican border, there are border patrol vehicles all over the place, and we've gone through several inspection stations, which are almost like a border crossing. They even get the dogs out and do some pretty thorough searching, although they don't bother too much with the big company trucks like us. We get a few questions, and sometimes are even waved through. I've also seen that fence they're building to try to keep the illegals out.
Well, that's it for today. Didn't get to see much of California. Had hoped for a load heading north along the west coast, but it didn't happen this time. At least I get to see my friendly cacti again! Always a plus side. :)
Oh, and one more thing...my husband does a terrible Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation (lol).
