Momma Gave Gold Finger a Green Eye

When I discovered the Pink Lady was a mean Pink Lady (which is a good thing when you need her to come to the rescue), I decided I wanted something a little tamer to have fun with at the shooting range. Hubby took me to the gun store and I narrowed my choice down to two .22's, which I immediately nicknamed Gold Finger and Green Eye. Most of you know I chose Gold Finger. But afterwards, we ordered a Green Eye for her...aka fiber optic sight. The bright coloured green insert makes the sight more visible. Here's what one looks like. Of course I was anxious to try it out, so off to the range we went this afternoon. Here she is, all ready to go.

Here's what the inside of the range looks like.

Here are the stalls for the shooters.

And there are my targets.

Look close and you'll see the green eye.

Line up the green eye with the target and bang bang! Ba-bang-bang-bang! (10 rounds each time). I think I did pretty good for a beginner.

The empty shell cases fly out of the gun and often bounce against the wall, and then sometimes bounce off you. I had one bounce off the floor once onto my toe... ouch...they're hot! Here's the pitted wall.

And here are some pics from the first time I was at the range, firing my Pink Lady for the first time. (can't shoot the Pink Lady without wearing pink of course.)

After being at the range for awhile, the taste of gun powder pools at the back of my throat. It's actually a sweet taste. In this pic, you can see a cloud of smoke after shooting the Pink Lady. Can't be good for you I'm sure.

Here's a home shot of my Pink Lady. Ain't she puuurdy?

These were my first ever 2 shots at the range (beginner's luck I suppose)...not with the Pink Lady though. I guess hubby wanted to warm me up on his .22 before handing over the Pink Lady to me. I found out why afterward. Pink Lady darn near flew out of my hand the first time I fired her! She's a .38 caliber. The larger the caliber, the larger the bullet, the larger the power.

This is the gun I used to fire those shots. Hubby's .22. It's a Ruger. He likes Ruger guns. My .22's a Browning Buckmark. They're semi-automatic pistols.

Hubby firing.

We took turns. I think he's dead.

And of course I had to give hubby's rifle a try.

Here I am on a different day, loading and firing my Gold Finger for the first time, without the green eye.

The ammo we were using that day actually turned my trigger finger gold! Which I thought was just too funny!

BTW, I've since replaced the black earmuffs with a set of pink ones, but I'm thinking I might have to look into whether or not they make 'em in green, or even gold. :)

Yes, hubby and I enjoy going to the range. It's actually a lot of fun. Something new for me for sure. Nothing like feeling the power in your hand. Seeing that fire-like flash from the end of the gun. The thrill you get when you hit the bullseye. The challenges you make for yourself. The occasional thud of your heart when someone with a larger caliber gun fires it off. The taste of gun powder in your throat. Empty shell cases flying all over. And the occasional burning sensation you feel when a spark lands on your skin (kinda like a drop of hot candle wax). Ah, yes, my new buddy...the Green Eyed Gold Finger. :)

When we got home today, hubby looked on-line for some new targets to print off for next time. He found this one. Look!! It's a Gnome, Gnome on the Range!! (lol)
